Full illustrations and sketch book musings, chronicling current ideas at work, and old ideas at play. I work in both traditional and digital media, with most of my work beginning as a pencil sketch, and sometimes ending as a full digital piece. It's so much fun to watch the evolution from pencil to finished product, and I hope you all enjoy what I have to offer.
What Cats Do At Night
Again trying something new and different with this style and this cat. I’m hoping to do more with her soon!
September got very cold up here, and I wanted to do something that wasn’t ‘Anu’ related to try and capture it. This gryphon is a character I’m hoping to develop once I finish Anu’s story.
The fourth in my Estonian Myth series (inspired by the myth characters Visit Estonia has on their website). Allikaravitseja is a healer of the springs and water sources, a shy elf-like character who will sooner avoid than approach you. However, if you earn her trust, she will reveal herself to you.
A further experiment with a new style (I’m really liking doing this), featuring a dreamer of for legs instead of two.
Character Design Challenge - Insect Warrior
August 2018’s CDC theme was ‘Insect Warrior’. I do not draw insects a lot, so I did fully plan to skip this month’s theme. However… the ghosts of school professors nagged in the back of my mind to push myself, so I decided to take a crack at it. My initial plan was to do a butterfly warrior, but upon remembering some of the stunning moths I saw at my old job, I decided to do a mage based on the white satin moth.
Character Design Challenge: Baroque Aristocracy
Now that I’m back in Canada, and back with my beloved tablet, I can once more participate in the CDC. This is my entry for this month, a regal duchess playing for her cats.
July has an art prompt theme, dubbed Zooly, where you draw a critter for each day of the month. I am admittedly very much behind, but I also love these prompts, and have done as many animals as possible up to now.
Prompt was ‘eagle’.
Prompt was ‘crab’
Prompt was ‘tiger’.
Prompt was ‘heron’.
Prompt was ‘squid’.
Prompt was ‘mouse’.
Prompt was ‘turtle’.
I’m trying a different direction on the purr maid idea, and I’m very happy with this one. The lighting/colouring was inspired by a photo a friend of mine posted that featured a beautiful newt, and another friend commented that it looked like something I’d done. Now it actually is!
A daring (and rather dumb) fish tempting life.
A sunning purrmaid in danger of losing their whiskers.
In spring of 2018, I tried to participate along with MerMay. I didn’t get to do as well as I wanted, but it was still a lot of fun, and I made some really fun purrmaids
Light in the Dark Places
This was my first piece really testing out the iPad and Procreate, to see what could be done. Also, it was very nice to step away from my usual style and return to something more simplistic and less stylized.
Character Design Challenge - Tarot
July 2017’s entry. This topic was amazing, and although finishing her design was difficult, I am still beyond happy with how she’s turned out.
Character Design Challenge - Egyptian Gods
June 2017’s prompt was Egyptian Gods. This was easily one of my favourite prompts, and I got to draw a goddess that I’ve always admired from afar, Sekhmet.
Character Design Challenge - Maori Warrior
After taking a long break, I returned to the CDC with this take on the Maori goddess Tangotango.
Character Design Challenge - Geisha
My entry for July, 2016’s, prompt.
Character Design Challenge - Mermaid
My first Character Design Challenge entry. The May 2016 was mermaids, so I made this char merl for the topic.
Sabriyya and Roshan
After so much northern dominated work, I decided to do something different. I have some ideas for further development, but that is some ways down the road yet.
Third character in the series. He is the spirit of the islands (of which there are many in Estonia!)
My second character based on the Estonian myth character series, the Metsik. She is the forest elf.
The Estonian myth character, the Murumemm. She’s a guardian of the meadows and open spaces.
Book cover redo for Cinderella.
Little Red Riding Hood
Book cover redo for Red Riding Hood.
Book cover redo for Sleeping Beauty.
Mermaids of the World - Sockeye
Another school project; I did six mermaids, but the sockeye was my favourite.
Qannik and Qimmik - Night Dance
Characters that I did for school project, when I was neck deep with my obsession with the ice age. I would love to come back to them one day!
